The Heard Words art installation can be likened to the childhood game of telephone. But instead of playing with a bunch of people simultaneous, it is more of a solo experience that connects through others in a different way.
Comprised of a series of suspended microphones, the Heard Words installation transcribes and prints every utterance in real time. Flowing down like endless receipts, these sounds, words and phrases are left to be read by others. Over the course of time it becomes "a spatial and sculptural record of data collected from people who have been within the space," as described by the designers.
The Heard Words installation was created by Between Art and Technology for an open artists’ competition held by Rogues Galleries, in Chester, England.
