What would a haunted forest be without some spooky sights and inexplicable apparitions that spook people in the night? French artist Marion Balac uses graphite to sketch out eerie scenery with purposefully blank voids that seem to float through the air and move through the trees.
Somewhat similar to the smoke monster that haunts the jungle in the TV show Lost, these white blobs are scary simply because they are strange and unpredictable. We have no idea what exactly they are and what they are up to, making them the unknown which human nature conditions us to be afraid of.
While the haunted forest images are super detailed an hyper-realistic, it is the mysterious white ghost-like entities that lack any detail whatsoever that capture the attention.
