The 'Nomad' hatchet and knife collection is designed for outdoor adventures. The project is the brainchild of Alexey Pavo, an industrial design graduate from the Shenkar College of Engineering and Design in Israel. Nomad is inspired by the Pavo family's tradition of outdoor traveling and camping, which caused the designer to be immersed in the wilderness from a young age and learn about the tools needed for survival in that environment.
The manufacturing process for the hatchet and knife was based on ancient tool-forging techniques. Steel blocks were heated to close to their melting point, before being struck by a hammer to achieve an individual part.
The tools also have plenty of personality thanks to color variations and Pavo's focus on graphic design.
Ultimately, the Nomad hatchet and knife combine tradition with modernity in the form of outdoor tools. Photo Credits: designboom, cargocollective
