The original Hanging Light Fixture was designed back in the 1960s by Peter Hamburger. They were made using lumiline bulbs that were comparable to glow sticks in aesthetic. Since such bulbs are now out the door, German lighting designer Ingo Maurer, who collaborated on the the original, decided to bring the Hanging Light Fixture out of hibernation by modernizing it for contemporary sensibilities.
In place of the lumiline bulbs, the updated the Hanging Light Fixture to now boast longer lasting LED lights. Visually striking, the design is in line with today's obsession with all things geometric. The lines of light, which are held together with string, create an abstract form that suspends over floors and tables beautifully.
