Bay area artist Afton Love uses beeswax and graphite to create large-scale graphic murals. Love has combined her passion for both materials and created a new platform for art.
The sizable works are all shades of black, white and grey. They are stark and take up entire walls when on display. Love gives her work magnitude with size and by manipulating the materials in a way to make them appear twisted and distorted. From afar, one may not be able to tell what materials are used and, up close, the different dimensions of layers are revealed.
Love melts her own wax at her studio and creates sheets of tracing paper, graphite and beeswax. The end product is a glorious assemblage of intricately designed graphic murals.
