Google's Project Fi is expanding its coverage to 170 countries and territories and is offering a new upgrade for international travelers. Project Fi's same-as-at-home international data service will work in nations like Belize, Monaco, Nigeria and Tunisia. Users will still pay $10 per 1GB up to 6GB, with unlimited texting and calls at 20 cents per minute. These new expansions will ensure that travelers do not get stuck without coverage and can easily document their travels through social media. Google's Project Fi is currently available on Google Pixel 2 phones, the Google Pixel XL and the Android One Moto X4.
The second update to Project Fi, introduces a new notification system for international travelers. The new system will inform users on whether they are covered for their upcoming trips. The new system will be able to draw info based on flight information garnered from the users Gmail, and will present users with the cost of data and voice calls in that country. The notification will be on by default, but can be turned off in account settings.
