Google Maps Cycle Lanes Lets UK Cyclists Plan Their Routes

Those cyclists living in the UK can now use Google to plan their routes via the Google Maps cycle lanes addition. The search engine giant has added an extra option on Google Maps that allows bikers to plan their cycling routes via the different dedicated cycle paths in the UK, which together comprise the country's National Cycle Network.

Launched in association with the organization Sustrans, a UK-based transport charity, the Google Maps cycle lanes add-on, much like Google Maps' other options, allows cyclists to plan the fastest bike route to any given destination. According to Wired, it also ensures the safest path by avoiding roads and paths that are known to be dangerous for bikers, and easier biking by taking cyclists along paths that don't have steep hills. Here's a fun video promoting the new UK bike route addition to Google Maps.
