In what may just be the most avant-garde and dramatic shows thus far during Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris, the Givenchy Spring 2012 Couture collection features the brand's signature black and white theme with an unusual twist: extreme facial jewelry.
Combined with high-collared blouses, outrageously large diamond chandelier earrings and matching hoop nose rings, this is one collection that is sure to go down in history as one of the fashion house's most opulent offerings.
What's even more strange is the setting of the show. Creative director Riccardo Tisci inexplicably sent models out into a basketball court-themed setting, with a stray basketball making its way into many of the shots.
The Givenchy Spring 2012 Couture collection is strange, different and dramatic. Isn't that what couture is all about?
