Architect Joar Nango creates a nomadic library that highlights 15 years of material and celebrates Indigenous Sámi architecture forms of the Nordic Countries Pavilion dubbed the Girjegumpi: The Sámi Architecture Library. It was presented at the Venice Architecture Biennale and the pavilion was designed by ArkDes museum creators James Taylor-Foster and Carlon Minguez Carrasco.
Nango speaks to Dezeen about the pavilion, stating that "Five years ago, I realised that I had so much material that I need to share with the world." He continues, "We need to understand what it is and to create a social network around it, we need to dive deeper into it, we need many people involved in it. It's not only for Sámi people, it's also for all architects to think about what is our colonial heritage in Europe."
