The Ghost Shoe embodies an intriguing balance of solid versus void. This is Shoe Sculpture No. 11 of the series 12 Shoes for 12 Lovers by which Sebastian Errazuriz represents a particular female character from his past.
The artist recalls the way that Valentina would flit in and out of his summer cabin one year, shrouded in mystery about where she had come from and where she would go. When she was with him, she behaved as though she was always somewhere else, mentally or emotionally.
To symbolize this ethereal lady, the Ghost Shoe high heels were given a light and penetrable look. They were assembled with sparse wire frame structures of silver metal and a soles of pure white.
