German company Pinion has launched an innovative new e-bike motor that happens to also include a gearbox unit. The 'Motor.Gearbox.Unit,' which is branded 'MGU' in abbreviated form, offers the venerated features associated with Pinion's gearbox, including its celebrated ability to switch multiple gears at a glance, not to mention being able to move gears even when the pedals aren't engaged.
As far as motoring function is concerned, the MGU offers electric performance that is exemplified by 800 watts of power, allowing for up to 63 pounds-feet of torque.
The system works in conjunction with a handlebar-mounted interface that riders can use to move between different levels in order to get the most out of variables such as power, range and terrain. The high-tech system also allows users to select a mode that permits automatic gear-shifting for easier riding and better performance.
