The 'OrtoBrick' is the first step in home garden building. Resembling an earthy brown bar of soap in appearance, it is the first building block for creating a personal herb garden. It is made from organic Tuscan clay and contains seeds like basil, rocket and parsley for horticulture. Each brick can be customized to have any word printed on its face or packaging, which is also 100 percent recycled.
Creator Tommaso Mancini describes himself as half gardener, half designer and created the OrtoBrick as an eco-friendly project that is meant to encourage people to start growing what they normally buy at the store. So much of what we eat can be grown in our very own backyard, producing less waste and costing less money. Mancini's desire to foster green development in urban settings is one that is shared by more and more people and has sparked a sort of urban garden-building revolution.
