At Meta's annual Hackathon event, which is a series of challenges participating coders must face, a team of developers consisting of Moritz Loos, Ferhan Ozkan, Dr. Benjamin I. Outram, and Cat Flynn, created a fully-functional gamified mixed reality application for completing house chores.
The team successfully showcased a working demo of the app which has since been made into a demo video and uploaded onto Twitter and Reddit by the developers. This demo shows the player vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping away animated grass spikes overtop of an animated surface that replaces the floor of the house. This makes vacuuming or sweeping the home more satisfying, as the visual feedback of cutting down large blades of grass with each motion is stimulating and engaging.
This unnamed gamified home cleaning application is not yet available for purchase or download, but the developers were previously active in discussing the development of the tool on Reddit.
