The classic card game royal families gets a much needed makeover in the Siobhán Gallagher 'All Decked Out' set. The Halifax, Nova Scotia-based designer re-imagined the Jack, Queen and King of playing card sets to display their individual quirks and traits, reflecting the suit to which they belong. The Queen of Hearts is shown holding up peace signs, while her King holds flowers. The characters from the Club suit are shown taking up various hobbies -- a play on words of the suit's name. The satirical representation of the Diamond family is definitely my favourite, as it shows the drinking King and an unhappy, smoking Queen.
The Siobhán Gallagher 'All Decked Out' set is a perfect example of how simple graphic design updates can bring life and humor to traditional, but sometimes faded, imagery. These would definitely add spark to any card game, with fun characters that people young and old can appreciate.
