LEGO announced the return of its original spaceship build set, the Galaxy Explorer. This set was originally released in 1979 at a price of approximately $200 USD. The set consisted of 318 parts and 4 minifigs and quickly became one of the most iconic pieces for adult LEGO collectors. Today, the original Galaxy Explorer retails for more than $3,000.
The new 2022 LEGO Galaxy Explorer is available for preorder now at a price of $100. It is now upscaled from the original with a total of 1,246 pieces, making it both larger and more detailed than its 50-year predecessor. The spaceship features two side wings, three thrusters, a primary and secondary cabin, various lights and speaker accessories, and a retractable tri-leg landing system. On top of this, the spaceship includes two front-facing lasers for combat accuracy.
