Illuminating Garbage Cans

FWBM Public Lighting Brightens Sidewalks at Ground Level

The FWBM Public Lighting System is a hybrid streetlight and recycling bin. It fulfills a pair of functions that pertain to different desirable qualities of the contemporary city. What this concept encourages and facilitates is safety and environmentally conscious behaviors.

This design by Minna Magnusson consists of a primary inner canister that serves as the trash can. This has two layers with a small space between them, capable of accommodating a threaded electrical cord into the anchored post base of the rubbish bin. A lampshade-like cover is attached around the top rim of the FWBM Public Lighting System and a complete LED ring is installed between them. The garbage can emits bright beams downwards, spotlighting the receptacle and illuminating public areas at night.
