'From Shade to Shadows' Explores the Effect of a Shifting Light Source

The common goal with installing skylights and windows in buildings is to reduce areas of darkness within. Interestingly, 'From Shade to Shadows' is a project that studies the experiential and aesthetic intrigue that is the intermittent entry of sunlight amidst an abundance of dimness indoors.

The architecture of this conceptual proposal is undoubtedly unique, appearing to take the form of a square coral reef excision complete with a hard creased shell and purple polyps in the center. These inconsistently spaced organic apertures of varying diameters welcome rays of warm light inside, casting beams of light upon the floors of the cavernous sheltered spaces. Nano Tsutsui's 'From Shade to Shadows' demonstrates the surreal ambient effect of shifting spotlights over the course of the day.
