Lyft will be offering free car charging for its drivers with electric vehicles. This comes as an expansion to the company's existing 'Green Mode,' in which users can request a hybrid or electric car. Currently 'Green Mode,' and the free charging will only be offered in Portland, Oregon. For this new initiative, Lyft partnered with Portland General Electric to supply its drivers with free charging.
The new feature will be rolled out July 1st, where drivers will have access to three different charging stations across the city and two others, which are in the process of being built. Each charging station is equipped with four DC Fast chargers and two Level Two chargers. The original price for charging was $3 per two hours of Level Two charging, or $5 for two hours of DC Fast charging, or unlimited access for $25 per month.
