Inexpensive Bamboo Homes

The Framework House is Targeted Towards Low-Income Cambodians

Framework House is a home built as the result of a collaboration between Building Trust International, Habitat for Humanity Cambodia and Atelier COLE. Primarily constructed from bamboo and wood, the home cost just $2,500 to build.

The project was initially conceived to help out vulnerable Cambodian families affected by HIV/AIDS, and people in poor health in general. A total of nine homes have been constructed for the purpose, with the most recent home completed only last month.

The dwellings have two storys and measure a total of 861 square feet and feature liberal use of recycled materials, with insulation being provided by earth bags, plastic bottles, clay bricks and woven bamboo. Local materials and builders were used to make the houses, which are a symbol of community giving.
