Zoe Paul Created Fragranced Art For Diptyque's 60th Anniversary Show

French perfumery Maison Diptyque commissioned Zoe Paul to create fragranced art for the brand's 60th-anniversary exhibition. Now open in Paris with pop-ups worldwide to follow, the show features original works by eight other artists, five of which created editioned objects fragranced by the perfumery.

Each artist draws inspiration from locations around the world: Paul draws hers from Greece; Joel Andrianomearisoa from France; Rabih Kayrouz from Lebanon; Johan Creton from Italy; Hiroshi Sugimoto from Japan. Paul's inspiration, in particular, came from the inside of Chiron's cave in Greece. The result is an image of a single hand, held together by a hand-pressed gold tin frame. The artist explains its correlation to Diptyque's Milies fragrance: "I was thinking about these hands crawling their way out of the earth because the perfume smelled kind of soily and earthy."
