Electrifying Eco-Friendly Cycles

The Ford E-Bike Combines Speed and Sustainability

Rip down the black top in eco-friendly style with the Ford E-Bike. The concept electric bicycle was unveiled earlier this month at the prestigious Frankfurt Auto Show, and has been met with glowing reviews ever since. Packed with some serious features, this bike is sure to excite more than a few nature-loving commuters.

The bike is powered by an intricate drive system comprised of a 350 W electric motor, which is concealed in the front-wheel hub, a 9.3Ah lithium-ion battery, an integrated controlled and, most remarkably, magnetostriction sensor technology, which is normally reserved for Formula One vehicles. This technology successfully converts magnetic energy into kinetic energy and the other way around. The body of the bike is 100% carbon fiber, and weighs in at an astounding 5.5 pounds. The bike is fully outfitted with a Selle Italia SLR XC saddle, Mavic Elipse Wheels, Shiman Alfine 11-speed internal gear hub and Shimano Rapidfire shifters. The handlebar is equipped with a screen that relays your travel stats and battery power. The bike is capable of reaching speeds in excess of 15.5 miles per hour. With any luck the Ford E-Bike will be zipping along urban streets in a few months time.
