English team Coventry City recently unveiled its football kit design for the 2022/2023 season and the inspiration is rather unconventional (for a sports-related garment). Athletic brand Hummel was the mastermind behind the team's new look and it drew inspiration from the Coventry Cathedral (also known as the Cathedral Church of Saint Michael). Basil Spence and Partners was the architectural firm behind this iconic Coventry building which was consecrated in 1962.
Now, the Coventry City football team can bring with them a little piece of home to every game while marking the cathedral's 60th anniversary. Hummel bases the away-kit on the colorful baptistery windows. The home kit also features the building's beautiful stained glass patterns, albeit in a different way.
