A new football stadium for the San Diego Chargers may look more like a scene out of a sci-fi movie than a sporting venue.
Architecture firm Populous has unveiled plans for a modern, interactive stadium that in and of itself is worth the price of admission. The open-air stadium will complement exciting football games by providing multi-use spaces such as a "fan park" for children. Also, a massive screen facing the exterior of the stadium will change as the the wind blows -- an homage to the area that mimics the ocean.
A skate park will also be built near the stadium, as well as a new trolly station and walkway. The proposed stadium may work to revitalize the entire area, becoming an immersive destination rather than just a football venue.
