Elevated Flat-Pack Chairs

PearsonLloyd Attempts to Join Aesthetics, Convenience and Economy

London-based creative studio PearsonLloyd designs a slick flat-pack chair for Copenhagen brand Takt. The intention behind the piece is to extract the convenience and affordability found in assemble-it-yourself-type of furniture and fuse it with an aesthetic that suggests high-end sensibilities.

For the construction of this style-forward flat-pack chair, PearsonLloyd utilizes oak for the structure and plywood for the seat and the backrest. The materials are selected to be "strong but light." Moreover, embracing the ethos of flat-pack furniture, the piece — which is dubbed the 'Cross Chair,' is also incredibly easy to build. It is shipped in a recyclable box boasting four disassembled pieces and six screws. One only needs an Allen key for the construction of the product.
