Snøhetta's Chromatic Design Incorporates Four Buildings

Architectural firm Snøhetta produces a design for a fishing facility in the archipelago of Vesterålen, located in Sortlandssundet, northern Norway. The project is commissioned by shipowner Holmøy Maritime and it is an ode to the country's immense international success in aquaculture.

Snøhetta works with the understanding that the complex will bring all employee facilities into one space. As a result, the architectural plan boasts four distinct buildings and even a guest house. The vibrant design of the building injects the aesthetic with some form of whimsicality and cheerfulness. The overall layout of the fishing facility is completed to ease the "in- and outgoing traffic from boats and trucks that shuttle between the facility, the sea, and the mainland."
