Netted Gamer Mosaics

Twitter user Jenihara Creates Final Fantasy Art On his Screen Door

Twitter user Jenihara created these Final Fantasy inspired mosaics using his home’s screen door as a canvas. The artist and avid gamer fused unlikely mediums for his latest masterpiece and created the composition using colored ink, a toothpick paint brush and his netted door canvas.

"At the height of Nintendo’s NES popularity, video game hardware could not handle any polygon-based visuals and instead relied on bitmap images to create popular characters."

Modeled after Final Fantasy’s iconic characters, these screen door caricatures are made with the process of bitmapping. The process "involves laying down squares of color, called pixels, to form an image and is referred to as a digital mosaic" seen here on the young artist’s screen door.
