Obese Fleshy Figurines

The Mu Boyan Fat Man Sculpture Series is Seriously Overweight

Obesity can be quite a touchy subject in today's society, but for artist Mu Boyan, it is an exciting topic that he continues to explore in his most recent Fat Man sculpture series.

Folds of flesh take over the miniature nude model, concealing any private areas and even overwhelming any defining facial features. In order to emphasize just how fat and fleshy the figures are, the artist created variously contorted poses that increase the Michelin Man tire factor considerably. The sculptures are also reminiscent of the Venus of Willendorf figurines that symbolize fertility.

With its bald head and smooth skin, the figure looks like a chubby baby, and instead of being grotesque, the Mu Boyan Fat Man sculpture series is actually endearing.
