Fast Mobile File Sharing

Android Will Get a Similar Feature to Apple's AirDrop

Apple's AirDrop feature has offered fast convenient file sharing to its users, and now Android will get a fast sharing feature of its own. The Android feature will operate similar to Apple's AirDrop, which uses a combination of Bluetooth and Wifi to send files locally.

However, Android's fast sharing feature will have some notable differences. Firstly, users will not be able to limit sharing to contacts, however, there is a 'Preferred Visibility' feature.

It is not currently clear which devices will get the feature, however, a sample indicates that Fast Share might be available to Chromebooks, iOS devices, as well as Smartwatches running Wear OS. However iOS versions of the platform would require an additional app.

There is no set date for when the Fast share platform will launch.
