Indian fashion designers Nikita and Tina Sutradhar pay tribute to everyday chores in a new collection that features fashion inspired by housework. The siblings, both graduates of London College of Fashion, founded fashion label Miuniku in London. 'Mundane Things,' the label’s A/W 2013 collection, is inspired by the everyday actions that we do not often notice, such as laundry and washing dishes.
"Mundane things is a project that aims to make mundane, daily things exciting to the viewer," the designers explain. "This design project explores the aspect of the processes involved in our daily chores and focuses on the monotony of our daily lives." The colors were inspired by the graphics of laundry detergent Daz, as well as other plastic household items. Fabrics used in production include organza, jersey, wool and silk.
The result is a brightly colored, oversized and straight silhouette. The collection showcases clean lines, graphic details, and a bit of a retro look.
