Sarah Moore, Trend Hunter (INTERVIEW)

Moore Explains How Fashion Advertising Sells a Set Lifestyle

From her chosen monochromatic fashion advertising trend down to her advice to the business world, former Editorial Intern Sarah Moore shows that she has a love for advertising and social media. She further elaborates on this by articulating her belief that digital media is the wave of the future, and how it is now consumers who are dictating the kinds of products that are being made.

What is your favorite trend and why?

My favorite trend is this idea of filmvertising. The ad industry has changed a lot to incorporate a lifestyle rather then ramming a product down someone's throat. This fashion advertising is the perfect example of this. They are using camera angles, lighting effects and music to make you feel that you are part of the product.

How do you define cool?

I would define cool as something that is new and innovative. It doesn't necessarily have to be something creative and crazy out of the box, but it can be a re-working of something different. It's all about improving and advancing things to make it better and make it more fitting for your life.

What is your favorite part about working at Trend Hunter?

My favorite thing about working at Trend Hunter probably would be the whole atmosphere. It is a very demanding internship and really pushes you to succeed, but at the same time everyone is super supportive and everyone's really chill. You get along with everybody and you are in a nice open space, which always makes things a lot easier to work when you don't feel like you are confined to a little tiny cubicle, so that's awesome.

What's your favorite accomplishment?

My favorite accomplishment here at Trend Hunter has just been increasing my perfection score, which is awesome. For me, I'm really meticulous when it comes to grammar and I've achieved almost a 98% perfection score now, which means that my edit time is less then two minutes. It has really improved my efficiency and my speed, which is great for writing.

What inspires or excites you?

What inspires me and excites me is other inspirational people. I really get going when I see someone's doing something really awesome and it really encourages me to want to do something powerful as well.

Predict a trend for 2020?

I think one of the upcoming trends I see for the future is definitely augmented reality. The ability for you to interact with a virtual component that doesn't exist in real life. The divide between humans and computers in the digital sphere and the real sphere is going to be completely erased soon.

What is the most remarkable way you see businesses changing?

The most remarkable way that I see business changing in the future is incorporating your customer more. Your costumer is your advertising agency, they are the people who know what they want and they know how they want the message delivered. The more you interact with them (albeit through social media), crowdsource information from them, use focus groups and interact and engage with the people you are selling to helps to totally open up the market. It allows you to impact their lives and make products that will be truly beneficial to them.

Any last words about Trend Hunter?

In closing it has been an awesome opportunity for me and it's really great to be a part of the dot come world at such a young age, which for anybody out there listening, the Internet and digital media is taking the world by storm and on that vain happy billion views Trend Hunter. We are totally proving that digital media is taking over.
