The Falling Chips Wine Rack Interacts with the Wall Behind

The best designs have a sympathy for the environment in which such items will be placed, and the Falling Chips Wine Rack anticipates the wall on which it will be mounted.

Nadia Anochie was inspired by the inevitable wear and tear of painted murals, which over the years results in the paring and flaking of cracked pigment fragments, causing the surface to become quite scaly.

With this natural process in mind, the designer wished her piece would embrace the aging of its backing. Gorgeous segments of arched wood were used to create outward-facing crescents compiled in a long and staggered formation. A small hole for the neck of the bottle was cut into the base of each bow, so that the Falling Chips Wine Rack can contain a selection of beverages elegantly stored upside-down.
