For anyone who gets annoyed by the plethora of distractions on Facebook (for me, this depends on how much I’d like to procrastinate), the new Facebook Lite has now come to the public.
The battle-to-the-death between Facebook and Twitter has just gotten more interesting. In an obvious attempt to emulate Twitter’s embrace of short attention spans, Facebook Lite combines the superior sharing of Facebook and the simplistic layout of their rival.
The benefits of Facebook Lite are obvious. The sleek design makes it easier to see what’s important (think less applications and ads crowding the view), and the simplicity makes it super fast. The site is only a public preview at the moment - Facebook still has some work to do--but a final version is coming soon.
