This fabric sensing system has been developed as a solution for athletes as a way to help them avoid physical exhaustion and maximize their capabilities. The fabric is made with a yarn developed by a team of researchers at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH Zurich) and is achieved with a stretching conductive rubber on the inner core. This would enable the wearer to have their movements tracked and detect when they are starting to reach the point of exhaustion to combat against avoidable fatigue or potentially even injury.
The fabric sensing system is presently in the prototype phase and could be equipped with an antenna in the future for beaming information directly to the user's smartphone.
