Bath School of Art and Design graduate Emma Buckley created a unique collection of fabric-dyed ceramics. Each piece of the 'Dye Line' ceramic tableware collection is given color through an usual process of glazing.
The ceramics are "hand-thrown, fired and finished with transparent glaze" and sandblasted to create a small gap. Then, each ceramic is drenched in fabric dye while the clay slowly absorbs the color that seeps through the gap. This process ensures that each piece of the 'Dye Line' is colored in a unique style that cannot be replicated.
This coloring method was created by Emma Buckely using a 3D design that she developed while in school. The ultimate goal was to create something that was infused with bright colors, traditionally only seen in fabric textiles.
