Evian's label-free water bottle is made of 100% recycled plastics. This unique design is Evian's first step into cutting virgin plastic entirely out of the supply chain, and becoming fully circular.
At recycling facilities, the bottles are sorted, cleaned and stripped of labels and caps, which are made from a different type of plastic. While labels are technically recyclable, many facilities either don't process them or lack the right infrastructure to do so. Evian's new stripped-back design, which took nearly two years to develop, features an engraved logo instead of the traditional label, and thus eliminates any waste to the environment. Moreover, except for the cap, the new packaging is made of 100% recycled plastic. According to the company, the plastic cap preserves the natural mineral water quality, and while not made from reused materials, it is fully recyclable.
Evian believes this label-free design could provide a sustainable solution globally, particularly in the e-commerce and hospitality industries, where there is no need for barcode labelling.
