Contemporary Captain Fashion

‘Escale' in Numero Magazine Plays on Pattern & Color

As I clicked through ‘Escale’ in Numero Magazine, I couldn’t help but think that the lead image looks like a contemporary adaptation of the garb worn by an 18th-century British captain. You know, something Commodore Norrington from ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ would wear if he were a woman in the present day.

‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ references aside, ‘Escale’ in Numero Magazine is a study in how to mix bright colors and patterns beautifully. Horst Diekgerdes photographs Monika Jagaciak in luxurious separates from Miu Miu, Yves Saint Laurent and Chanel. The shoot was styled by Samuel François.
