Art and technology studio based in Melbourne, ENESS presents a look at its latest permanent installation in the form of the Solar-Powered Bench 'That Spins Ever So Slowly.' The whimsical structure is able to store sunlight from the custom solar panels and slowly rotate the furniture to allow those who sit on the design to have a slow-paced perspective of what surrounds them. The bench also interacts with the sun as it is able to spin faster on sunnier days and slower when it is cloudy.
Niros Weis, artist and founder of ENESS speaks about the design, stating that "The intention was to create a work that innovates within the area of [the] public realm by being functional, sustainable, and one that inspires a different way of interacting. By harvesting sunlight, the benches move under their own steam – without intervention. This intention makes a statement about the future of public infrastructure and what energy sources are being used for light, movement, and animation."
