Mood-Sensing Watch Apps

The EmoWatch App Recognizes If a Person is Happy or Sad

The idea of understanding your mood is something that has always interested people even at a young age with mood rings and in a way, the EmoWatch App plays off of this interest. In fact, this smartwatch app is just as simple as a mood ring -- at least for now. Yet as Haje Jan Kamps of Tech Crunch writes, "Extreme minimalism didn’t stop me from being absolutely fascinated, however."

Related to a person's voice, the EmoWatch App analyzes short audio samples for a number of parameters, including intonation, pitch, speed and volume in order to detect four "dimensions" of emotion: Joy, sorrow, anger, and calmness. Although some people might like this recreationally, the EmoWatch App would make a great addition to mental health tracking apps once developed more.
