Can robots be intelligent enough to express human emotions? Check out this cool little Emotional Heart Robot.
Researchers in Bristol, UK have created this small robot-like puppet made out of flexible plastic, padding, silk and rubber, and wrapped in Egyptian cotton.
The Heart Robot has the ability to detect objects at a distance, listen, balance and sense touch.
Its nervous system consists of five small computers which look after different parts of the puppet. The sophisticated workings enable him to respond to human behavior in a remarkable way.
If Heart Robot is agitated, his breathing becomes faster and his heartbeat speeds up. When he relaxes he becomes "happier".
David McGorgan, project coordinator, said "We are hoping that people will feel an emotion in response to the robot and that this will inspire them to find out more about robotics."
Certainly more interesting to me than the standard robotics.
