The Elsewhere device is more than just another VR headset or pair of 3D glasses. The system, which comes with an app and a pair of glasses, can turn any video -- or, for that matter, any image at all -- into a 3D experience.
To use the Elsewhere system, users must download the app to their phone (the app is currently only available for iOS, but the company plans to release other versions.) They then don the Elsewhere glasses and place their smartphone into the slot in front of them. The special lenses in the glasses, combined with the modifications that the app applies, turns any flat smartphone images or videos into 3D videos. This includes any videos previously shot in 2D that are sitting in a user's camera roll.
