The Sawyer robot aims to make electronics manufacturing quicker and simpler than before.
The design is an upgraded version of Rethink Robotics' last electronics manufacturing robot 'Baxter.' The robot is "designed to execute machine tending, circuit board testing and other precise tasks that are impractical to automate." The Sawyer is small and only weighs 42 pounds, can safely work alongside humans and has smart capabilities that allow it to change applications quickly. The robot also comes with an expressive "face" that allows for communication between it and the people collaborating with it.
Although its stylish and expressive features are the first thing one sees, this small robot is highly functional and eases the process of manufacturing large quantities of electronics.
