At the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, Land Rover unveils a prototype for the luxury automobile companies first dive into the hybrid auto pool with the Range_e. The 2012 Land Rover Range_e is a diesel/electric hybrid that may go to market next year. The electric component to the car is fostered with a plug-in hybrid system which allows the SUV to run on 100% electrical power.
The Range_e is equipped with a 3.0 litre TDV6 diesel engine with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. Capable of achieving 89g of CO2, it has an EV range of 20 miles,and a range of 690 miles. The 2012 Land Rover Range_e, along with other eco-conscious automobiles presented at the 2011 Genever Motor Show, serves as proof that an eco-friendly future is not as far off as some think.
