Chilled-out German startup Mellow is developing an easy-to-use electric skateboard drive that makes it easier than ever to upgrade from a regular skateboard to a speedy electric model. This accessory can be fitted onto existing boards to give them more zip and bite.
The system works thanks to the embedding of two motors that are built directly into the 79 mm wheels. These motors were developed in Germany under the supervision of Mellow's co-founder, formerly an electrical engineer at BMW and a man who knows a thing or two about speed and performance.
While there are other electric drives for skateboards out there, the ease of installation of the Mellow creations -- and the fact that they are quiet, powerful and well sealed to keep out water and dust -- marks them out as must-haves for anyone looking to upgrade from regular old skateboard to electric drive.
