Local Brazilian architecture and design firm Estudio 30 51 has recently designed a tea house and cafe in Brazil called El Te. The tea house occupies the ground level of a shopping mall in Porto Alegre, known by its huge, eye-catching wooden letters that light up the store front, framing the cafe's entrance.
"The fronts of the letters are backlit so at night time they work like urban lanterns illuminating the front of the store," says Gustavo Sbardelotto of Estudio 30 51. Along with the colorful packaged canisters of teas for customers, the rainbow effect enhances the plain glass paneled counter. There are around 30 different varieties of teas to sample and buy.
The interiors use wooden panels to contrast with the rainbow like colors and are found in the shelving, flooring and counters.
