Just a reminder that Earth Hour is coming up this Saturday. If you're not sure what that is, read our previous article, embedded below.
For those who aren't aware, it could come as a shock if the lights or TV in their hotel rooms suddenly shut off, or if the restaurant they're visiting is lit only by candle light.
There are hundreds of businesses, including those the service industry, who have agreed to participate in the global event in which all forms of electricity will be shut off from 8 pm to 9 pm, local time, on March 29.
For example, The Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto will cut their power for the hour, replacing 34,000 light bulbs with candles. In addition, they'll be serving up eco-friendly cocktails in the Library Bar including the "Turn Your Lights Down Low", "Global Warming" and "The Green Movement."
"If you’re intimidated about energy conservation, lounging by candlelight is a romantic way to become more aware of climate change and the WWF’s EARTH HOUR movement," said the Library Bar Manager, Frank Pedicelli.
The best place to hang out at the hotel though is the pool where all the lights will be off and 100 floating candles will drift on the water.
