This ear tag for cattle has been developed as a new solution for farmers that will offer advanced functionalities to ensure livestock are as healthy and accounted for as possible.
The device was developed by the CSIRO national science agency in collaboration with Ceres Tag and works by being affixed onto the cows ear and going to work tracking their location and health. This will allow farmers to detect problems before they get worse and keep an eye on their herd in an autonomous manner by getting automatic notifications when something occurs.
The ear tag was successful tested at the CSIRO Lansdown Research Station on 100 cattle, which has prompted calls for smaller, lighter solutions to be developed that also track temperature and beyond.
