The E-Scooter was part of a surprise presentation by Volkswagon at the 2011 Shanghai Motor Show.
The E-Scooter is an electric-powered, two-wheeler with a cute design. The scooter weighs just 20 kilograms making it a reliable companion for a short journey. Designed to offer affordable mobility for city dwellers, the E-Scooter has a 350-watt motor that delivers a speed of about 30 mph with a range of 40 km. According to Volkswagon, users can extend the range of the E-Scooter with a lithium-ion battery. Its performance can also be extended by installing a 700-watt electric motor.
Volkswagon expects to launch a fleet of such lightweight scooters suitable for Chinese megacities by the year 2012, followed by a Worldwide launch.
