Toyota created the Driver Awareness Research Vehicle in order to increase safe driving. The smart vehicle ensures that drivers are fully conscious of their actions before they even step foot in the car. This is all made possible with the interactive window display on the driver's side door.
The interactive window begins with a face and body recognition system. Then, the car will respond to voice commands in order to better plan the commute. For example, the vehicle will determine the best route, check the weather and even keep track of the vehicle owner's personal schedule. This will aid the driver in remembering important dates and destinations.
Additionally, the Driver Awareness Research Vehicle will even decide whether the driver should stop for gas. If the car does need gas, the vehicle will automatically input a scheduled stop into the route. This technologically advanced vehicle was created in a partnership with "Microsoft Research as part of Toyota’s continued research in driver distraction at Ann Arbor’s Collaborative Safety Research Center."
