Dutch designer Martijn van Strien just launched a clothing company that allows customers to download custom clothing designs. In recent years, many companies have provided customers with tools for personalizing the garments they buy. This designer takes the process one step further by allowing customers to download the designs at home.
The new site is called the 'Post-Couture Collective' and it features six pieces from Van Strien's fashion label 'mphvs.' Before purchasing an item, the customer can customize any of the pieces in the collection to fit their exact measurements. The customer can then download the designs for the garment and have it manufactured at a local Makerspace. If the customer wants to assemble the garment themselves, they can also choose to have the item delivered as a kit. Because the items are made with a laser cutter, there is no need for a sewing machine in order to assemble the pieces.
The option to download custom clothing give consumers a new and exciting way to shop online.
