Dolce & Gabbana's Sleepwear Inspired Spring 2009 Line

It's official. Men, if you haven't picked up something in blue yet, preferably powder blue, you're going to be out of style this season. Dolce & Gabbana proudly showcased a stunning Spring 2009 menswear collection which was very heavy on the blue, a theme we already saw at Gucci and Alessandro Dell'Acqua. What D&G offered that they didn't, however, was a pajama theme. Like Prada's pajamas a few seasons back, Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce designed a line of sleepwear-inspired looks for day. They contrasted the PJ-inspired looks with black rimmed, Buddy Holly-meets-Where's Waldo glasses, bronzed skin and slicked back, retro hairstyles.

"The pajama theme underscored Dolce & Gabbana's new mantra: comfort," Style.com says. "Picture a pinstripe suit (foundation stone of the Dolce empire) with the jacket shawl-collared yet the trousers drawstrung, elastic of waist, and rolled of ankle. Such forgiving elegance! A silk denim tuxedo was another way to make the same point."

Later in the show, the collection went from western-style pajama to a more oriental look, with silk robes printed with dragons enveloping the sculpted male models who wore matching bottoms to complete the stylishly cozy look.

Dolce & Gabbana is the third big design house to emphasize blue this season. For alternate ways to wear the colour, check out out how Gucci and Alessandro Dell'Acqua infused their spring lines with blue.
